(Port) Wine of the month December 2022: The Vintage Port Club - 30y old Tawny Port

It took me a while to recognise that this Port is truly special. Firstly it is the jubilee-Port of the Danish The Vintage Port Club (www.vintageport.dk) to celebrate their 30th birthday and secondly it is the very unique Andresen 30y old Tawny Port, which has never been bottled before. A special delegation of the Club took a sample or two to the Portweinmesse in Leverkusen this year: Orange-red color with a hint of golden reflections. Coffee, marzipan, fresh orange and all kinds of nuts in the bouquet. A very nice scent of “douro bake” on the palate mixed with honey, some floral notes, walnut and coffee with perfectly supporting acidity. Long aftertaste. 18/20 I presume it will be tough to find something as unique to celebrate the 40th anniversary…
